For seven years and counting, the Grand Avenue Brass has set out to establish intimate and high-energy musical experiences, conquering a variety of venues and genres. Through their work both on-stage and in the classroom, Grand Avenue has done exactly that: providing quality musical experiences for a variety of audiences, and ‘giving back’ to the music community in the form of dynamic educational experiences.
Grand Avenue Brass has performed throughout the Rocky Mountain and Midwest regions, including performances in the Denver Metro area and as the opening act for the world-renowned Boston Brass. In addition to their success as performers, the members of Grand Avenue are celebrated for their inspirational and community-driven educational efforts in public school and collegiate classrooms across the United States.
For the past three years, Grand Avenue Brass has maintained a strong relationship and summer residencies with the world-renowned Boston Brass–a critical aspect of developing their artistic vision. This relationship ultimately led to GAB’s first tour in May of 2016, which reached over 3,000 students and community members in 8 cities across the State of Wyoming, with all events being free-of-charge.
Demand and word-of-mouth was so powerful after the first tour that a second one was completed in January of 2017; with an even larger audience and vision in mind, Grand Avenue Brass completed two weeks of masterclasses, school assemblies, community concerts, and workshops across Wyoming and South Dakota. The tour culminated with a residency at Black Hills State University in picturesque Spearfish, South Dakota.
The membership of the Grand Avenue Brass includes a variety of diverse musicians from across the United States. GAB members currently hold degrees in Music Performance, Education and Composition from some of the nation’s top collegiate music programs, including the University of Wyoming, Bowling Green State University, Washington State University, and the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati.
